Many articles about sustainability and circular economy often forget to mention the importance of tire repair and retreading. These two processes are fundamental for the safety of our environment, and we, as a supplier of tools for these industries, are committed to designing new products to ease the job of the people working in these fields.
We attempt to have an up-to-date product portfolio by attending industry events, listening to our customer’s needs, and carefully evaluating the available components. For instance, we created two new models of extruder guns for OTR tires. They use parts employed on preexisting extruders but adjusted to fit more powerful drives.
What exactly are OTR tires? Tires used on large-scale vehicles to be found in mines and quarries. They are really expensive, and their disposal is quite complicated. To provide an idea of their sizes, the biggest OTR tires (63″) are 4,5-meter height. It would be almost the same as having two Michael Jordan, one on top of the other.
Given the above information, it is now easy to understand why repairing this type of tire requires professional tools. And from our point of view, one of the most helpful machines to ease this job is the portable extruder gun. Not just any extruder, but one that matches some specific features: power, high rubber production per hour, and lightweight. These elements must work together well, but they might not be enough, and we are explaining why.
The extruder guns are sorted into two main groups: pneumatics and electrics. The pneumatic ones work with air and electricity, while the electric ones only use electricity. Sometimes, the air supply is not stable. Therefore, the best solution for steady rubber production is an electrical tool.
Our VMR Giant Bosch 750W Extruder and Electrical OTR Extruder 1800W meet those needs. The first one is a pneumatic machine smaller in size but extremely powerful. It weighs only 6 kg with a rubber production of 28 kg per hour. The second one is the product of extensive research. After several months of studies, we identified the perfect drive: with the correct power output and a moderate weight. We adopted the parts of the barrels to fit this drill and started testing. The results were more than satisfactory: a rubber product of 40 kg per hour and a weight of 10,5 kg.
The question now is: why choose one of these extruders for your tire repair? Because they will speed up the skive filling, and you will save time during your tire repair and retreading processes. Your operations will be more efficient. Another important reason is that our service doesn’t stop the moment we ship the product. As for our mission, we offer after-sales assistance. We can repair your extruder and have stock of the main spare parts. We suggest reading our article “What about a product without its spare parts?” https://vmrubber.com/en/blog-en/what-about-a-product-without-its-parts/ , and contact us if you are interested in receiving more information.
